The 2022 Ostler Pinot Gris was fermented half in stainless steel to retain purity and aromatics, the remaining was fermented in oak barrels, 12% being new, with extended lees stirring to provide complexity, richness and texture on the palate. Poached pear, ginger, white peach and jasmine florals, a generous, luscious palate intwined with a mineral zest that draws the wine together with precision. A dry style, but with plenty of interest.

2020 was a stunning season, warm & dry with just the right amount of heat when needed in the middle of flowering mid-December, giving the views energy to set small, intensely flavoured berries. The colour is a satisfyingly deep ruby/magenta with garnet hues, ideal for a fine young Pinot. The aromas are distinctly ripe and obviously Clos Ostler - red & dark currants, raspberries, cherries and a touch of damson plum. The spice from the ripe seeds is intoxicating giving a delicious brown baking spice aroma of clove, nutmeg & anise. All this is accented by the most delicate yet intense dark liquorice French oak. The palate is immensely satisfying with a delicious sweet ripe fruit entry that builds in intensity as it is warmed in the mouth. Layers of fruit sit beautifully poised with more of those red & dark fruits sitting in the mid-palate without being heavy or clunky. Powdery & silky tannins provide the perfect foil for richness of the fruit & gentle acidity holds the wine together. It is a classic Caroline's in a similar mold to the 2010 & 2016.

Hand-harvested fruit, whole bunch pressed and fermented with wild yeast in French oak barrels. A 100% barrel ferment lends texture and depth. Aromas of white peach and ripe lychee, layered with subtle floral tones, sit alongside a faint mineral edge, offering both aromatic lift and complexity. A vibrant entry of succulent stonefruit evolves into a focused core of grapefruit acidity, delivering precision and energy. The palate is finely textured, with a mineral backbone and a thread of salinity providing structure and drive, leading to a long, refined finish that is distinctly expressive of the Waitaki Valley's cool-climate elegance.

The 2022 vintage marks the inaugural release of EOS Pinot Noir - a wine shaped by the season's restraint and the clarity of Clos Ostler's site. Deep and darkly brooding, it exudes intensity with a luscious core of Doris plum, mulberry, and cassis. These fruit notes are layered with subtle spice, hints of anise and black pepper. The palate is rich and complex, with impressive depth and finely grained tannins that shape a bold yet harmonious finish. A wine of power and intrigue, revealing new layers with every sip. EOS makes its debut, derived from the same site and plantings as Caroline's Pinot Noir, yet expressing a distinct stylistic identity.

The palate is rounded in the mouth, with gentle citrus and white peach characters, enfolded in layers of crème patissière and hazelnut.

The Pelorus is crisp and balanced. The pale straw colour and aromas of ripe citrus hint at its Chardonnay origins. On the nose, a bouquet of apple and lemon complements the aromas of fresh bread, drawn from two years' bottle ageing on lees.

The Pelorus Rosé is smooth and elegant. The pale salmon hue and brambly aromas reveal its beginnings in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. You'll find the nose is laden with raspberries, cranberries and ripe wild strawberries, while red florals, rosehip and marzipan hover at the fringe.

Dark on the nose, with appealing aromatics of black cherry and bramble fruit. The palate reveals layers of florals, gentle spice, melding with notes of boysenberry and Doris plum and framed by finely realised, silky tannins and juicy acidity.
